The lowest my FPS ever got was 71.5 which IMO is completely unnoticeable. It means I am constantly at 90fps which is the CAP, and when 25 ships were all firing at planes, and bombs were dropping and planes were on fire and the whole 9 yards. I deem this perfect as that test is more strenuous than playing SIM. My Pacific benchmark is 71.5 FPS minimum and 89.1 FPS average. Ocean Flight is a 1 minute test, its simple and fast, and will simulate majority of what SIM is, but your FPS can drop lower than the test. Pacific (day) will be a rough 5 minute test, very comprehensive and simulates a battle which is more FPS draining than 99% of what you get in SIM. ONCE YOU START A TEST IT WILL NOT STOP UNTIL COMPLETED! Scroll over Battles and a drop down will appear.Īt the bottom of the drop down menu there is Benchmark. When you log into war thunder and you are in your Hangar put on your VR.Īt the top left of your screen you will see 3 horizontal lines, Battles, and Community. NOTE: benchmarking can make you nauseas so close your eyes if need be. If it is still not at 90fps, consult your family physician because idk what to do beyond that. IF it is still not at 90fps, turn off SSAO and Particle Density. If your game is not at 90fps change the following. Trouble shooting if you do not get 90fps after these setting in spoiler Lens Flare Off (You don't want your cockpit glass as bright as the sun) Soft Particles On (looks better when you shoot enemy planes) Haze On (Helps with spotting enemy planes) Water Quality Medium (This is a quality of life one, I prefer the medium look over low, but again FPS impacted)Ĭloud quality in flight 50% (I find this is the best balance between FPS and quality) Terrain Deformation High (I have noticed with lower settings the terrain shifts around in geometry which makes dog fighting near ground or cliffs harder) Small Shadows 0% (I don't want all those small particles casting shadows and taking up my FPS) Reflections Quality 0% (You don't want your cockpit glaring at you and having to deal with sun flares) SSAO 100% (Note SSAO massively effects FPS, if your FPS is low with my settings turn down SSAO) Grass 0% (who needs grass, your flying in the air, it only hurts FPS) Particle Density 100% (I like seeing parts fly off of planes) Tree Rage 10% (you can still see trees from roughly 1 mile, so it does not impact low level flight) SSAA None (This is useless in VR, google it to find out why, to long to explain here) This will fix most peoples frame rate drop and lag. Download War thunder from the website and run it away from Steam. If you have Open XR or another third party software to run VR. No matter what your settings if you use Steam VR it will lag. I have a GTX 1080, 16gb of ram, and an I7 8700k.įirst things first: Steam VR is glitchy and laggy.

– I don’t hear that a lot, (maybe they do in our customer care department). Is there really a difference? What would you say to them? They seem interested to “move on” as they question the “authenticity” of the Guayakí taste when compared to traditional South American brands like Rosamonte, Cruz de Malta, Barao, etc. I started with Guayakí, because it everywhere here in my area, but now I am ready to try some other brand…. “My name is … I have been drinking yerba mate for a few months now. Most of them are consuming your brand, but write me asking for advice on which brand to try next. Guayakí is a US brand and I often get emails from American yerba mate drinkers, who have only recently been introduced to yerba mate. – we have always shared personally, one to one at events – that is for sure the most effective. Which of your marketing strategies, do you consider to be the most effective one to convert new drinkers? I have seen everything from banners, youTube videos, testimonies and so on. Its impossible to search for yerba mate on the Web and not come across the Guayakí brand. – I really have no idea, but i would say it is under 10% for sure…. In your opinion what it the current percentage of the US population, who is aware of the existence and benefits of yerba mate? Some say 3% and others say as much as 7%. Through my readings, I have seen diverging opinions on the percentage of North Americans who know yerba mate. I really wanted to get a feel for the type of people who consume their products and just how did they manage to bring such a traditional beverage to such a “untraditional” market. According to their own website, their mission is to steward and restore 200,000 acres of South American Atlantic rainforest and create over 1,000 living wage jobs by 2020.Īfter taking the full tour of their website and watching some videos online, I got a full picture of their work in South America, but I still knew very little about their operations in the United States. From biodegradable packaging to solar power arrays and reforestation projects in South America, they sure try hard to stay on the path of sustainability. While I have seen this same model being performed by other brands, I must admit Guayakí seems to go that extra mile. With this renewable, stable income, communities are able to restore their lands and improve their lives. Farmers sustainably harvest organic yerba mate in the rainforest, which generates an income for their communities. Using a market driven restoration business model, Guayakí connects customers’ purchases of mate products directly to farming communities in South America. They sell mainly organic yerba mate beverages in various forms, including bottled cold drinks, cans, energy shots, traditional-style gourds, tea bags, and loose leaf. The company sells its products through their own online shop, food retail stores and restaurants in the United States grocery stores in Canada and retailers internationally. The CompanyĪccording to Bloomberg, Guayakí Sustainable Rainforest Products, Inc., is a US-based beverage company founded in 1996 by college buddies Alex Pryor from Buenos Aires and David Karr from California. In this article, I bring to you a summary of my findings as well as the full interview with Karr. To fill in the blanks, I contacted the company directly and had my questions answered by David Karr, co-founder and Vice President of Marketing. If you have spent as little as 5 minutes looking up information about yerba mate on the web, then you have probably already come across this brand.Įager to find out more about America’s most popular yerba mate brand, I decided to roll up my sleeves and learn a bit more about them. Despite of this, Guayakí has always been on the back of my mind and it should be on the back of your mind as well. To be honest, I have never tried any of Guayakí’s products, simply because they are not widely available in my region and when they are, they cost way too much. If often get asked if Guayakí is the “real deal” or just an americanized version of mate. The majority of these emails seem to come from North American readers who have recently started to drink mate and are apparently concerned about the “authenticity” of their yerba mate experience. In the last few months I’ve received a fair amount of e-mails from readers asking my serious opinion of Guayakí Yerba Mate. Of course, a reliable application like Swift Publisher will simplify the process, but knowledge is power in any case. When developing a design for printing, there is a vast number of different parameters to keep in mind. For example, watercolor strokes on the images will give them a sense of handwriting, which, in turn, adds a feeling of freedom and coziness to the design. At the same time, they are an essential element in explaining the magazine’s concept to your audience, providing a better understanding of the idea that lies at the product’s core. As a designer, you have to make sure the illustrations will maintain contrast ratio and brightness when printed. You need to pay particular attention to text and visual content quality. For instance, in Swift Publisher, there are over 500 templates, so you will definitely find a perfect match. Although a functional strategy, minimalism shouldn’t be compulsory, but overwhelming details and too many colors can be very distracting.īeginners in the field or even professional masters can use the benefits of ready made templates to simplify the task and save time on the process of designing a magazine. There are various trends and traditional approaches, but the best advice is to stick with one style. When it comes to making headings and sections for your magazine, it is high time to conjure up all kinds of ideas and test which of them will work efficiently. Specialized software is a guarantee, even for newcomers, not only to learn how to make a magazine cover, but also to print your own magazine-from creating a template to making the results of your work materialized can be achieved using one qualitative application. However, with all the tools we have on hand nowadays, the manual approach is definitely inefficient and less productive than other means. Without a doubt, everything can be realized using a manual approach on paper. No matter which type of magazine a user is going to work on, it is critical to choose a platform to implement your plans and ideas. Even though your path of creating a magazine page design may be full of ups and downs, it will help you pick up useful information on how to make your product interesting and eye-catching for your target audience. Theoretical background is important, but you will never achieve success without practice in the field. Of course, you can get inspired by someone else’s masterpieces, but make up your own mind and decide which topic is closer to your views and aspirations. In this case, a magazine is too general an option. If you are eager to know how to create your own magazine, your first task is not just to study the field’s trends-you need to specify what to develop. Image Source: Īpart from excellent quality, these examples stand out with a wonderful selection of topics and themes to cover. There are also numerous materials to get acquainted with to gain deeper insights into the topic- Entertainment Weekly, Better Homes and Gardens, National Geographic, etc. The majority of average consumers understand at least theoretically what elements a magazine includes. The FTC says it is also notifying 10 online review management service companies that avoiding the collection or publication of negative reviews violates the FTC Act, and the agency is releasing new guidelines on collecting and publishing customer reviews for online retailers and review platforms. "Deceptive review practices cheat consumers, undercut honest businesses, and pollute online commerce," Samuel Levine, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement. The Fashion Nova complaint is the FTC's first involving a company's efforts to squash negative customer reviews. The FTC alleges Fashion Nova blocked hundreds of thousands of lower-starred, negative reviews between late 2015 and November 2019. The fast-fashion online retailer misrepresented that product reviews on its website reflected the views of all customers who submitted reviews, according to FTC allegations, when in fact, Fashion Nova used a third-party online product review management interface to suppress reviews with ratings lower than four stars out of five. There may be other people who will try experiments. LEVIN: I'm afraid that he made it all up. There is no madeleine with a reasonable recipe that behaves the way Proust says.ĬHADWICK: Edmund, you're talking about a writer who his entire career rests upon his ability to evoke tides of memory from small little stimuli, and you're saying he's lying about the stimuli? So my shocking conclusion is that Proust's madeleine could not have existed. I left them outside for three, four days, and I tried to dip them and I still got very few crumbs. LEVIN: Well, I tried leaving it out-it was kind of a heartless act I felt, but I made some madeleines. So what is your conclusion about Proust's legendary madeleine? Where do you come to here? Was it just stale? That could even mean that it was stale.ĬHADWICK: OK. LEVIN: Basic food science tells you that a madeleine that would behave like that would be drier, would have less butter, less eggs. Now the funny thing is when I started researching this, I thought, `Well, somebody must have tried to figure out what kind of madeleine would do this.' And to my surprise, I found that no one had taken the time and the effort to research this really utterly trivial question to find out exactly what the recipe would be to create a Proustian madeleine.ĬHADWICK: And how did you do? How did you go about that? What Proust's passage suggests is that the madeleine should kind of disintegrate a little bit in the tea. LEVIN: It is crumb-deficient because it is apparently not dry and crumbly enough. There are no crumbs in the spoon when you take your typical madeleine and soak a piece of it in the tea.ĬHADWICK: What is wrong with this madeleine that it is crumb-deficient? LEVIN: Well, you have the makings of an investigative food writer because that's the whole problem. LEVIN: And then to stir it a little bit and than what Proust describes is that the narrator then scoops out a spoonful of tea and there should be, according to the passage, crumbs in the spoon, and that's where the whole problem and mystery lies.ĬHADWICK: I have to say there are no crumbs in this spoon. and then you should break off, I'd say, about a third of it.ĬHADWICK: I note that this is a rather-well, it doesn't snap apart. Well, first, you should get into an appropriately pensive mood. And tell me what I should do to re-create Proust's epiphany. So now I have in front of me a cup of tea and a spoon and a madeleine this is one that we bought at Starbucks. An exquisite pleasure invaded my senses.'ĬHADWICK: And from this moment, all these memories flow out because this moment is so magical. No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. `I raised to my lips a spoonful of the tea in which I had soaked a morsel of the cake. This is the cookie known as a madeleine, a shell-shaped confection that inspired French author Marcel Proust's legendary flood of memories in his work "Remembrance of Things Past." Our literary sleuth is Slate contributor and food writer Edmund Levin.Įdmund, welcome to DAY TO DAY and remind us exactly what Proust did with this madeleine and why there is a question about this cookie.ĮDMUND LEVIN (Slate): Well, in "Remembrance of Things Past" which is a 3,000-page novel, there is a scene in the book where the narrator, who is a fictionalized Marcel Proust, dips this madeleine in some tea, and the spoonful of tea mixed with crumbs is kind of the point where the novel reaches escape velocity and he has this flood of memories that spark the whole rest of the novel.ĬHADWICK: Read us just that passage, will you? Our partners at Slate magazine have published a piece that delves into one of the great literary mysteries of all time: how the cookie crumbles. Now with the results of a unique exercise in investigative reporting. And this, I repeated up to 10,000 requests. Afterwards, I published a couple of articles about SQL injections and then read the articles in the browser, combined with the casual search for individual SQL statements. What I did was set the CRS to Paranoia Level 4 and then install a local Drupal site. With the Core Rule Set 2.2.x, this would have been simple, but with the 3.3 release (3.3.2 to be exact), most of the false positives in the default install are now gone. So, I went and created false positives from scratch in my browser. How did I arrive with this traffic generator script? After all, it is difficult to provide real production logs for an exercise due to all the sensitive data in the logs. If you do not want to run the script yourself, then you can also download the example logs from my run. When used against CRS v3.3.2, you will get exactly the alerts, this tutorial is based on. The requests are extracted from a browser session and transformed into curl requests so you can run them easily. I have prepared a script that performs 10,000 requests against a host. What you need is a real set of false alarms. There is no point in learning to fight false positives on a lab server without traffic.
